Intel Introduces Next Unit of Computing (NUC)

Clifford Tan, Channel Platform Manager, Intel Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd walked us through the features of the NUC earlier today

During its first media event of 2013, Intel Malaysia today introduced the New Unit of Computing (NUC). The NUC is essentially a full PC system that has an extremely small form factor that’s even smaller than that of a HTPC running on a mini-ITX motherboard. Originally announced last year, the NUC is a system that’s targeted at both companies that deal in digital signage and end users.
Because the NUC is a full-fledged PC, it can deliver the processing power needed to run specialized software such as the Intel AIM suite, which tracks the characteristics of a nearby shopper and displays a variety of products that will most likely appeal to him or her.
On the end user side, the NUC performs as a powerful HTPC that will be able to turn any connected TV into a powerful entertainment device, from streaming content to playing casual games.
